I spoke too soon

So while my back isn't anywhere near back to normal, I did feel well enough today to actually get dressed. And since I've been stuck in the house for days, mostly laying about so as not to aggravate my back, now that I've recovered some movement, I had to do something! So I took outfit photos. Although I think now that I should not spend too much time standing since my back hurts a little more again... Anyhow, the photos.

These leg warmers have cute little buttons on them. The only bummer is they seem to weigh down the leg warmer and I wind up stepping on the silly things all the time unless I'm wearing shoes.

I am happy that I feel well enough to go to dinner at my friend's however. A good vegan meal and playing a board game with friends! Definitely spells good Sunday evening that does. Hopefully my back continues to mend - although I'm trying to be careful - and I can get back to being myself again. I miss dancing around the house like I usually do!

Hope you're all having a good weekend. Cheers!

Not good

So I might disappear for a little while... I've been having some major back problems these last few days. I can barely walk, bending or leaning is excruciating, and leaving the house is completely out of the question.

It really sucks - not only for the pain - but because I'm missing out on so much this weekend. It's my friend's birthday today, and I can't attend, and tomorrow I was invited to a vegan dinner and board game night, which I will still likely feel too unwell to go to either.

I'm spending most of my time laying down reading (a firsthand account of a boy's time living with real gypsies) or watching Disney movies.

If I can't get any outfit shots soon, I'll think of something else to post. Hope you all have a better weekend than me!

Cheers!

P.S. I've been addicted to the Beatles lately... love their Revolver album.

Off to the Scottish moors!

Well, I wish. But that's what this outfit makes me think of... Scottish moors and low clouds and hills masked by thick wet fog. And sheep. Because this is another all-wool outfit. Thank you sheep, for your wonderful wool!

And I would now like to introduce you to another of my pets...

Caramel, my handsome boy!

His tail has made it into a few of my photos in the past, and he was lurking around again tonight so he finally got included. He's a big lovebug, and loves to lay on the desk, between the keyboard and me. He needs to be super, super close, but is too long and fat for laps!

Cheers!

Warm Wool

Wool sweaters and wool skirts and wool socks... Yay for wool! I'm really digging this little black wool skirt I picked up the other day.

Sweater - Thrifted from the Salvation Army
Wool skirt - Thrifted from the Salvation Army
Leggings - Who knows?

I had to try on the sweater a few times before I was certain I wanted it. I wasn't sure how I felt about the collar - I don't usually like big collars of any kind - but eventually the fit and colour won me over.

The only bummer about this outfit is that it attracts cat hair like maaad. And my kitty has oodles of white and light orange hairs so they really show... Eh well, I'll just consider it extra insulation! Haha...

Cheers!

Jackpot!

I walked to the nearby Salvation Army today, in search of a sunny yellow sweater. I didn't find one, but I did snatch 3 other snuggly sweaters and two more nice warm skirts. I've still got my hopes up for a yellow sweater, but I'm very happy with what I got today.

Tank Top - Fairweather for $5
Wool Skirt - Thrifted from the Salvation Army for $2.50

I actually bought this black sweater earlier today... I really needed something like this in my wardrobe. I have a lot of tank tops and sleeveless shirts, and I needed a good dark neutral zip up sweater to toss over them.

And this is a horrible photo I took with my webcam as an afterthought but I wanted to share the little hemp necklace I made the other night.

I couldn't find any jewelery I liked for my partner to gift me for my birthday, so he passed me his little glass mushroom pendant until he gets me something at Christmas. Anyway... it was just on a black string, and I had some wood beads and hemp cord, so I figured why not, and made this. It's more special to me now because it's made with a little of each of us.

The skirt is the one I picked up on Friday at another Sally Anne. I'm really scoring with these mid-calf length wool skirts lately... I've got three now, and it's great. They are going to be perfect for when there's snow on the ground! Do you have any favourite go-to item for cold and snowy weather? I know that's what these skirts are for me! What are yours?

Cheers!

A Floral Splash

Nov 11 2010
Blouse - 70's Vintage, purchased at Ragtime Vintage
Skirt - Smart Set, purchased years ago
Tights - Who knows?

I absolutely adore this blouse. It was love at first sight. It's just so bright and cheery, and I get compliments on it all the time. The lillies just seem to be splashes of colour on the shirt, bright oranges and yellows.

I bought another long wool skirt at the Sally Anne today so you'll likely be seeing that one soon too. I must beef up my winter wardrobe before it starts getting really cold! Plus it's a great excuse to go thrifting ;)

Cheers!

Etsy Faving Frenzy

I got back from my trip out West yesterday, but since I don't have any outfit photos or anything... Here are some great vintage pieces I have favourited on Etsy. (Maybe I'll even get around to having money again someday to buy some of them!) Enjoy, and check out the other items in these peoples' shops!

I highly suggest checking out this lovely lady's blog, Moonshine Junkyard.

Cheers!
