Green Velvet

This is far from being one of my best outfit photos - or outfits - but I really just adore this green velvet jacket. I purchased it at Free'p'Star in Paris for 20 Euro. It's vintage and made in London. I'm so glad it fits me, because it would have been sad to have to leave it behind. I alllmost didn't buy it, but knew I would regret it if I didn't. It's quite a bit dressier than I usually dress - especially lately - but it makes a great excuse to break out my prettier dresses too.

Dress - Vintage shop in Brussels, Belgium
Shoes - Salvation Army

The batteries in my camera died before I could photos of just the dress but I'll be wearing it again and hopefully get some nice shots then. I unfortunately dropped my camera and now the battery hatch won't stay shut so I've taken to duct-taping it close but every now and again the stupid thing bursts open. It sucks because the camera itself still works great but more little things are going south with it. As it is I have to wedge a piece of folded paper under the little flash thingy to keep it propped open. Anyway, I have to head out to my Healthy Living, Healthy Eating class for school now. Cheers!

Irregular Programing

I can't really say posting outfit photos is going back to the regular swing of things around here when it seems to be the complete opposite. Zombie Walks, pastries, festivals... But I guess that's the point of having my own blog, I can post anything I want to here. Years from now I'll prefer scrolling through this stuff than forced outfit shots, I'm certain. However, I do still take the occasional outfit photo and here's a new outfit I enjoyed wearing in mid-October.

Oct 16 2012 E
Leather Jacket - Danier
Neck warmer - Gift from Anne
Sweater-dress - Eva-B in Montreal
Leggings - Can't remember
Boots - Thrifted from Value Village
Glasses - A pharmacy in Chéticamp, NS

What possessed me to buy a wooly sweater-dress in the middle of July is beyond me, but I think the face on the front had a lil' somethin' to do with it. I'm a sucker for cheesy stuff. And this is definitely that. My friend Laura saw it on me and instantly said "So 80's!" which explains a lot methinks.

I haven't got a whole lot else to say at the moment. I had a Demo Assistant shift at school this morning, helping a Chef during an Intermediate Pastry demo while he made Délice Caramel (which I also got to enjoy, yay!) and now I'm home for the afternoon until I head back for a Canning Workshop this evening.

Oct 16 2012 A

Tomorrow I've got a Prep Kitchen Assistant shift which will probably be a bit more stressful since the Cuisine Chefs are less than enthused about having us Basic Pastry students in their kitchen, with our lack of general cuisine skills. I'm still looking forward to it, even if I am nervous. Everything's that made me nervous or frightened so far has turned out to be totally groovy for the most part so this is probably going to be that way too. I hope you have a great Monday and a good start to your week. Cheers!

Characters

Do I look like myself? I felt like myself when I wore this. Other than being a little self-conscious about the whole pants thing. It's still taking some getting used to for me. I love cool autumn weather for being able to wear my leather jacket and hoodie together, so snuggly and comfy.

Hoodie - Fairweather
AC/DC shirt - Very Old
Jeggings - Hue
Boots - Thrifted from Value Village

I haven't really got much else to say about all this. It's nothing new for me, just echoes of a style and way of life long past. But I'm forever evolving and changing and I think this might be the New Era of the Pant. You'll see :P Cheers!

One-Time Deal

While I don't dislike this outfit, I will not be wearing it again. For one thing, that black skirt is way too big on me now (which I only discovered too late while getting dressed that morning) and now hangs around my hip-bones. The belt did a passable job keeping the skirt up, but there was so much excess bunched up fabric around my waist, and the skirt kept escaping and it was all very awkward. Not worth going through again for an outfit I wasn't all that crazy about.

Dress as blouse - Thrifted from Value Village
Skirt - Thrifted from Value Village
Socks - Fancy Sox
Shoes - Spring

I wore my snake-print shirt-dress as a blouse again. It's funny, because when I bought it, I never figured it would be such a staple in my wardrobe. But turns out, I actually wear it a lot, even if I don't post the outfits since they're usually re-wears. A large part of why I'm posting less the last few months is just because I'm re-wearing the same outfits over and over and it would bore you all to death to see them that often.

Oct 27 2011 C

It was warm enough to get away with just wearing my leather jacket back at the end of October when I took these photos, but not anymore. I'm layering a thick hoodie under my jacket now, which helps keep me nice and toasty. I prefer layering this time of year just because it helps me regulate more easily if I do happen to get too warm. I'm hoping to find a mid-season winter coat and boots soon though. Gaps in my outerwear must be filled!

Oct 27 2011 A

Another reason I'm not a huge fan of this outfit is just the lack of colour. While I don't mind it, I am usually just happier wearing colours. A wonderful lady said that bright colours suit me better anyway and I very much have to agree.

I hope you're all having a good week so far! Cheers!

NaNoWriMo

It's November, and I'm certain more than a few of you have heard about NaNoWriMo by now. I've decided to give this a try and I am working full speed ahead on a zombie novel. I attempted this once a few years ago and got nowhere near the end, but maybe this time... ? You can find me here, if you want to be writing buddies! Are any of you participating?

Oct 16 2011 E
Jacket - Danier Leather
Top - Forever 21
Skirt - Fairweather
Boots - Spring

This is a rare outfit for me, in that nothing is vintage or thrifted. I rarely buy new items anymore, but they opened a Forever 21 in the Rideau Centre recently and I just couldn't say no to this top. And unlike every other fashionista who bought this shirt, I actually do like Kiss. (Yes, it bothers me when people wear band shirts for bands they don't listen to, what is up with that?!)

Oct 16 2011 B
Oct 16 2011 D

These are from back in mid-October, when my maple tree was halfway through its Fall transformation. I really loved this outfit, it felt like a fun combination of tough and girly. I've since bought myself some real leather boots (which you will eventually see) and I can't wait to wear this outfit again with those instead.

Oct 16 2011 A

I've been rather lazy lately, wearing new outfits but not bothering to take photos. I'm still in this terrible awkward phase with getting dressed and I'm never particularly happy with what I'm wearing. Darn transitioning, I am so bad at it.

I hope you're all having a good week so far. Cheers!

The One That Got Away

I took initiative yesterday evening and styled myself. Baby steps! So much so, I missed a button on my jacket and I didn't notice until I was looking at the photos on my computer. Oops? I still like the photos anyway, even if I am a goof who can't do up her buttons properly. Thank goodness there are only five! I've gone out the door in a button up dress crookedly buttoned on at least one occasion. I admit it, I'm button-challenged!

March 30 2011 D
Jacket - Thrifted from Value Village
Dress - Purchased from Sally Jane Vintage on Etsy
Tights - Fancy Sox
Flats and belt - Ardene's
Scarf - Spring
Sunglasses - Young Jane's Vintage

I bought this jacket way back in December, but it nearly didn't happen. I tried it on, I pet it, I showed it to my mother, I put it back on the rack, wandered back to it, carried it around, and finally just purchased the darn thing. I'm glad I did, it's perfect for this weather, and has a nice different vibe compared to my usual black leather jacket.

March 30 2011 B

Now there's something odd about these sun glasses. Sometimes, I absolutely adore them, other times, I feel I look ridiculous. I loved them when I bought 'em, I loved them while taking these photos... but now that I look at them, I think I look funny! Not to mention they really, really make me look like my god-mother back in the 70's heh. But that's part of why I love them... they're just so wonderfully vintage!

March 30 2011 C

This dress has a self-fabric belt, but I switched things up and added a black belt instead. I have no idea why I didn't try doing this earlier, I really like how it looks. I particularly adore the above photo, I feel like I could be just another gal from the 70's! (Or maybe I'm just full of myself!)

March 30 2011 A

Here I am in my now-reclaimed living room. My father had kind of taken over the place with his painting supplies and spent a lot of time napping on the couch so I tended to avoid it for the most part. But now the room has opened up and it's all mine again. You're likely going to be seeing a lot more of it, since there's a huge picture window that lets in oodles of wonderful bright light and I would love to take advantage of that for outfit photos.

It's Friday tomorrow! Hope you're all having a good day. Cheers!
