Fluff

Since I can't upload any outfit photos - which is really frustrating - I'm just going to make this a fluff post with some outfits made out entirely of Topshop items. I'm also going to be skipping out on the FBFF questions tomorrow because, for one thing, I'll be in the middle of nowhere with no internet or computer, and simply because this week's questions didn't quite tickle my fancy. But anywho, these pretty things definitely get my attention! If only I had oodles of money...

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

 1 2 3 4 5 6

 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Putting these outfits together has taught me something. I am a slave to matchy-matchy colours. I tried to push myself out of the box with colours and patterns but as you can see - especially in the last one - I tend to turn outfits into an exclusive colour party, where only the select colours few may attend. *is a dork* Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely Easter or Regular Weekend for those of you who don't celebrate. Cheers!

Mini Dress Madness

No outfit posts today. Instead I'm going to share some more awesome Etsy finds. I admit, I have been spending hours looking at vintage clothing on Etsy again. I can't help it, I really do think I'm addicted.

Anywho, my recent search obsession has been for mini-dresses. I want something cute and girly that shows off leg, something fitted and flattering. But also crazy colours! I blame this on my purchase of this dress. It seems to have sent me into a crazy 60's mini dress obsession period. It's also partly due to my just being sick and tired of winter already and so badly wanting to wear cute little dresses and show off some leg!

I'm dreaming of delicate tiny flower patterns and bold mod colours. But, without further rambling, here are some awesome little dresses I wish were mine! Click on the photos to go to the listing for more pics. :)

Such adorable little floral and pink dresses!

And then you've got these amazing 60's mod patterned dresses, and the cutest little patchwork dresses! I'm a sucker for outrageous patterns and colours.

Absolutely adorable little sundress!

Pretty in paisley!

Passionate pinks and purples!

Out of this world patterns!

And that's it for my mini-dress bombardment. For now anyway, hah. As is clear from the same model being in the photos over and over, a lot of those dresses are from the same shop, that is Dolly Rocker Vintage. If you love 60's and 70's fashions, her shop is definitely one you need to check out.

Anywho, that's enough. Hope you're all doing well. Cheers!

Yesterday's Wardrobe

As I expected, there wasn't enough time for me to write an outfit post last evening. I did manage to take 10 minutes to quickly snap some outfit photos before heading to class though. I've gotten pretty good at taking my photo now, so that I wind up only taking about a dozen before having one that pleases me, which definitely helps saving time. I've posted this dress before, but that was way back in September. Seems ages ago, when leaves were on trees and the grass was still visible!

Jan 27 2011 C
Dress - Purchased from Heather's Moonshine Junkyard on Etsy.
Tights - Fancy Sox
Shoes - Thrifted from Value Village

This is my favourite kind of outfit, a happy mix of vintage and thrifted items. I've taken to trying to buy all my work shoes thrifted from now on because honestly, spending $60 for a pair of shoes I'm only going to wear at work just seems pretty ridiculous. I bought myself a pair of new winters boots today, and they cost me about $90, discounted, and that still really stings... but compared to their full $140 price I can't complain too much! Plus I'd been wearing the same old pair for 3 years now and they really needed to go.

Jan 27 2011 A
Jan 27 2011 B

I really like these green shoes. They're pretty much in my favourite colour, and the heel is nice and low so I'm not wobbling around like I'm wearing stilts. I like stilleto heels and own quite a few pairs, but they hurt my feet too much to really wear anymore. I fell down some stairs a few Christmases ago and I'm pretty sure I broke or at least cracked some of the bones in one of my feet and it's been extra bad wearing heels since. So short chunky heels it is!

I might be writing another post this evening, since I'm wearing a skirt today that hasn't been posted yet, but we'll see how lazy I am and how willing to bombard my few watchers with so many annoying, uninteresting posts. (At least, that's what I fear they seem to be!)

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Cheers!

I admit it, I'm addicted

To Etsy, that is. I'd purchased a few items on Etsy last spring, but never got too into it or checked it out too much. But recently... I have no idea how this happened but it seems like Etsy is my go-to site when I am bored now. And I spend ages just trawling through vintage clothing listings and oggling pretty hand made jewelry. Which I suppose isn't a bad thing except it is making me spend money.

As I'm not 100% certain I'll have the time to do an outfit post tonight, I thought I'd share a few of my recent purchases (so recent I'm still waiting for them in the mail) and some of the many (MANY) Favourites I've been adding to my list lately.

Both purchased from  ReluctantDamsel on Etsy.

Pretty little feather piece to hang in hair!
Purchased from Adamaris on Etsy.
(I had a soft spot for this one in particular since it has a rooster feather,
and I call my boyfriend my "rooster")

Purchased from NinthAvenueVintage on Etsy.
(this one I have received, and I can't wait to wear it this summer!)

And now on to Favourites! I think I might just start posting Favourites every once in a while (because really, who else can I share the awesome with?!) by theme... And today's Favourites shall be Peasant/Mexican Style! Some are already sold, most are not (right now) but they're still great to look at. Just click on the photo to get to the listing. Enjoy!

And the best for last...

Cheers!

Full and Glorious

I'm still a bit under the weather, but my spirits are much higher now. I'm floating around on a cloud of lovey dovey happiness and general contentedness lately which is doing my soul and being some real good. I'm also absolutely in love with the word "glorious". It's just so full and warm and round and welcoming. "Glorious" is a glorious word! I think we should all take the time to appreciate the beauty of words and languages more often.

I picked up some supplies last evening for making resin jewelry, and I'm hoping to start messing around with that and maybe making my own pendants to use with my hemp necklaces. Part of my New Year's Resolution is to be a more productive person and to learn more skills etc. and I really love crafting so... hey!

I also finished this necklace last night, and it's in my Etsy shop now! I actually bought the pendant off another artist on Etsy, along with a yellow and an orange one too. They'll be popping up on necklaces soon enough. Oh, and to Claire who asked where I work... I work in a closed-to-public government departmental library. Very. Bland. Haha... But yeah, I'm technically a librarian. :)

I hope you're all having a wonderful week so far. Cheers!

Cosmic Spider Jewelry

That's the name of my new Etsy shop! I finally opened it last night and listed some of my necklaces. Hopefully this goes somewhere for me... but if not, it'll have been a learning experience! Plus I'll have a bunch of jewelry to give to my friends. :)

Monday night we got together for a little party, welcoming our friend Minda back for the holidays. She recently moved from Ottawa out to San Francisco! We made home made veggie tacos. :)

The only photo where I don't look like a dork!

We had wine coming out of our ears, everybody brought a bottle.
Too bad I don't drink wine!

Making tortillas!

Nobody smiles bigger than me!

I'm taking my parents out to Perkins for dinner tonight, as one of their Christmas gifts. My mother's been wanting to eat there for ages and it just never happens, she was definitely happy to hear where we were going! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. Cheers!

That Dress and Macrame

I've been mulling over the thought of trying to sell some macrame jewelery. I'm nowhere near an expert at it, but I definitely enjoy making the pieces. And I can't just make and make and make, even if I gave some away, I'd have necklaces and bracelets up to my ears.

Dec 14 2010 F
Dress - Thrifted from the Value Village
Leggings - Who knows?
Black Shirt - Smartset

Not to mention I'm a person who usually just wears the same few pieces everyday, rather than different ones, which means most of my jewelery gets little use as is. I think it's worth a shot anyway.

Dec 14 2010 E

I wore the dress without its matching belt, and I think I like it better this way. The belt sort of gave it a kimono kind of look I wasn't super keen on. I may try using the belt in other outfits though, because it's still pretty awesome.

Dec 14 2010 D

Dec 14 2010 C

These first two necklaces are my own personal ones and I won't be parting with those, but it gives you an idea. I know a lot of people out there are selling stuff like this, but if I find really unique beads, and start using different coloured hemp threads, I could have a chance.

Dec 14 2010 B

Dec 14 2010 A

This is a necklace I made in hopes of selling. I was thinking somewhere around $8-10, shipping included in Canada and US for necklaces, and $6-8 for bracelets. Does that seem reasonable? Do you think I should give it a go? I'm trying to get as many honest opinions on the subject as I can before I get really gung-ho about it all. I'd be more than happy if the sales just covered my material costs.

Anyhow, I'm going to get started on another necklace, and finish watching Dead Man. Cheers!

Wintertime Love

I've once again fallen into listening to The Doors. I absolutely adore Jim Morrison's voice (not to mention he's nice on the eyes, hah) and I love all their songs. In particular I've been listening to their album Waiting for the Sun, and the song Wintertime Love just really resonates with me right now.

Dec 07 2010 B
Dress - Purchased from Anne's A Cup Full of Sunshine on Etsy.
Tights - Fancy Sox
Belt and Leg Warmers - Ardene's

The song is quite short, under 2 minutes, but the album is really supposed to be listened to all together. Either way, it's still quite lovely and I suggest you give the song, and the whole album a listen if you haven't before.

Dec 07 2010 A

I mentioned a while back then I went to a little photoshoot with some lady friends of mine. I had hoped to clean up my own photos but my photoshop skills are practically nil, so the photos I took have horrendous backgrounds. Let's pretend they aren't there.

Dec 07 2010 C

I brought one of my pythons along to the photoshoot and he wound up being a real hit. He must have passed through everyone's hands at least once, and everyone liked cuddling him so much he was barely ever in his container.

Dec 07 2010 D

The main reason for the photoshoot was a project a friend of mine had to do for school. The next photos were taken and altered by that friend. I was happy though, because one of the young women wound up wearing the dress I purchased from Heather's Etsy shop, and it really suited her wonderfully!

Dec 07 2010 E

Dec 07 2010 F
I have a twin! ;)

And yup, I have not just one pet python, but two. And another different type of snake as well hah. The one in the photos is named Galen, he's a ball python. I acquired him in October of '09 and he's a year and 4 months old at the moment. He's a total sweetheart and I love him to bits.

Anyhow, I have to go make dinner. Hope you are all well. Cheers!
